Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Assistant Commissioner for Compliance and Business Operations (Full-Time
Position)
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), a premier NCAA Division II athletic conference headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo., is seeking an individual to serve as the Assistant Commissioner for Compliance and Operations. This is a full-time, 12-month position beginning July 1, 2005. The position will include full benefits with a salary range in the mid-$30,000 range annually. The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. A bachelor's degree in sports management or a related field and at least two years experience in a collegiate environment is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
The position will report directly to the RMAC Commissioner.
Compliance responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Monitor conference and NCAA compliance at member institutions.
* Organize professional development opportunities for Faculty
Athletic Representatives, Senior Woman Administrators, and Directors of Athletics.
* Coordinate the activities and meetings for the RMAC
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
* Organize professional development activities for the RMAC SAAC.
* Organize professional development activities for members of
institutional compliance committees such as financial aid officers, registrars etc.
* Monitor the commitment to diversity at all levels of
institutional and conference administration.
* Process secondary rules violations including ARS waivers,
Medical hardships, and SAR waivers.
* Conduct investigation and enforcement activities when needed.
* Administer the National Letter of Intent program for our member
schools.
Business Operations duties include, but are not limited to:
* Administer all business operations of the conference, including
budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, contracts, personnel, financial audits.
* Administer the conference officials including, payroll, liaison
with officials coordinators, monitoring and maintaining the conference officials assigning website.
* Assist with conference championship administration.
* Assist with administration and management of all RMAC
championships.
* Assist with administration of all RMAC meetings.
* Represent the league at championships and other conference
functions when the commissioner is unable to attend.
* Assist with the development of a RMAC financial and strategic
plan.
* Represent the conference with national associations.
* Be available for NCAA committee assignments and seek others
from the conference for nomination.
* Other duties as assigned by the commissioner.
Candidates should possess excellent communication and writing skills as well as strong organizational ability. They should also have a thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations. Candidates should be extremely proficient with a variety of computer programs, including Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel), QuickBooks, as well as familiarity with web-based programming. Weekend and evening hours will be required as well as travel to several conference championships.
