Football: PLU schedules non-conference game against Southern Oregon; Lutes to meet Raiders in Hillsboro, Ore. on Oct. 22

TACOMA, Wash. -- Pacific Lutheran University athletic director Laurie Turner announced late this afternoon that an agreement has been reached with Southern Oregon University to play a non-conference game on Oct. 22 at Hillsboro Stadium, part of The Gordon Faber Recreation Complex in Hillsboro, Ore. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.

The game will replace a Northwest Conference game against Lewis & Clark College which was originally scheduled for Oct. 22 at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup, Wash.. Lewis & Clark announced recently that they were cancelling the conference portion of their schedule because of a concern for the safety of their student-athletes.

Adding the Southern Oregon game will return the Lutes to a nine-game schedule this season.

PLU head coach Scott Westering and his team is on a road trip to River Falls, Wisc. and is not available for comment.

The Lutes last played Southern Oregon in 2001.
