Mirando transfers from Valparaiso to Case Western Reserve... Football

CLEVELAND, OH (May 31, 2005) – Angelo Mirando, a former graduate of Jefferson Area High School, will transfer to Case Western Reserve University this upcoming fall. Mirando, a standout high school quarterback while at Jefferson, spent this past season with the Division I-AA Valparaiso University Crusaders. Mirando did not see any action on the field in 2004 with the Crusaders.
“He was the number one quarterback we recruited prior to last season,” said Case Head Football Coach Greg Debeljak. “Angelo is a big and athletic quarterback who can throw the ball and run with it, which gives us a lot of options on how we can use him.”
A Jefferson, Ohio native, Mirando was named both the Northeastern Conference and Ashtabula County offensive player of the year his senior season in high school. He also earned Honorable Mention All-Ohio and was named to the First Team Great Lakes District. A four year letter winner with Jefferson, Mirando also earned three letters as a member of the Falcons’ track and field team. In addition to athletics, Mirando also excelled in the classroom as he was a member of the National Honor Society in high school.
The Case Western Reserve University football team finished the 2004 season 5-5 overall and was 2-1 in the University Athletic Association (UAA), good for second place.
