FOOTBALL: SOUTHEASTERN SPRING GAME SET FOR THURSDAY NIGHT

HAMMOND – The annual Southeastern Louisiana Football Spring Game is set for Thursday night at 7 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium and will give fans an early opportunity to check out the 2004 squad in action.

And fans are certain to see an offensive explosion with second-year head coach Hal Mumme’s offense producing nearly 1400 yards of offense in the first two scrimmages of the spring season.

Ticket prices for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for children 12-and-under and $3 for Southeastern students with a valid university ID.

The format of the game, however, will be much different than last season according to Mumme.

“We’ve got a lot more players this time around so we’re actually able to break off into two teams,” replied Mumme. “We’re splitting the one’s and the two’s into one team (Green team) with the rest of the squad on the other (White team). We want fans to be able to see the majority of the team we’ll be putting out there every Saturday play together.”

But despite the apparent disparity, the format will be skewed to help even the playing field.

There will be no kickoffs in the game with the ball being placed at the 20-yard line for the Green team and at the 35 for the White team. The White team will also be spotted 14 points.
