Former Hampton Standouts Highlight NFL Europe's Upcoming World Bowl on Fox TV
Hampton, Va. – The college football season is months away, but the Hampton University football program will be on display on the FOX Broadcasting Company next Saturday, June 11, as the NFL Europe presents World Bowl XIII. Former Pirates Isaac Hilton and Jamaal Brooks will take to the field for the Berlin Thunder, while Ataveus Cash suits up for the Amsterdam Admirals.
A linebacker for the Pirates from 1995 to 1998, Brooks has spent several seasons with the Dallas Cowboys before being allocated to NFL Europe by his current team, the Cleveland Browns. Brooks is among the leading tacklers for the Thunder with 31 stops on the season, which ranks fifth on the squad.
Joining Brooks on the defensive unit for Berlin is Isaac Hilton, a two-time All-MEAC performer who played at Hampton from 2000 to 2003. A seventh round selection by the New York Giants in 2004, Hilton currently leads the team in quarterback sacks with five. The defensive end hopes to transfer his success back to his NFL club, the Carolina Panthers.
After playing up under center as a quarterback for the Pirates from 1998 to 2001, Cash has used his athletic ability to become a wide receiver for the NFL’s New York Giants and the Amsterdam Admirals. His 26 receptions (284 yds., 1 TD) rank second on team, and he also doubles as kick and punt returner.
When the NFL season kicks off, this trio will join current Dallas Cowboys fullback Darian Barnes and receiver Zuriel Smith, along with Greg Scott of the Cincinnati Bengals organization to give Hampton six (6) players in the professional ranks.
