McNEESE STATE TO RESUME FOOTBALL SEASON

LAKE CHARLES, La. -- McNeese State will resume its 2005 football schedule on Saturday, Oct. 8, against Texas Southern on the campus of Northwestern State.

The game will have a 3 p.m. kickoff and there will be one admission charge
for all, $15 a person. Northwestern State will handle all game management
for the contest.

The Cowboys, 1-1 on the season, have had three games canceled this season due to hurricanes, Latrina and Rita. They will begin practice on Tuesday in Hammond on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana.

"Northwestern State has offered its facility and services for this game and we certainly appreciate it. This will allow our young men to get in a competitive game prior to beginning Southland Conference play on Oct. 15 against Stephen F. Austin," McNeese athletic director Sonny Watkins said.

Northwestern State is on the road that day, playing at Sam Houston State.

"We have had a lot of help in getting our season going again," Cowboy head coach Tommy Tate said. "We are grateful to Southeastern Louisiana, Northwestern State and Texas Southern for helping us in this effort."

Tate, his staff and his players will leave Lake Charles (from Cowboy
Stadium) at 1 p.m. on Monday for Hammond. Their first practice is scheduled for Tuesday at a time to be decided.

The coach said that players should bring clothing, personal hygiene items, pillows, sheets, etc for their stay in Hammond. They will be rooming in a dormitory on the Southeastern campus.

No decision has been made as yet as to the location of McNeese's game with Stephen F. Austin on Oct. 15. It had been scheduled for Cowboy Stadium.
